Keywords & Topics
Writing without keyword research is publishing into the dark. The fix used to be a $100-plus-per-month subscription to a tool built for SEO professionals. GoShipFast keeps the data — real search volume, keyword difficulty, search intent — and removes the profession.
Open Content → Keywords. The workspace has three tabs.
Topic Library
A topic is a thing worth writing an article about, usually anchored by one primary keyword and supported by several long-tail ones. The library is where topics live and move through statuses:
- Ideas — captured, not yet committed.
- To Publish — chosen; next in line for writing.
- Drafting — an article is in progress.
- Published — done, linked to the live piece.
Each row shows the anchor keyword's volume, difficulty, and trend, plus a one-line editorial intent: what the article should actually accomplish. Two ways to act on a topic:
- Write article — hands the topic to the agent, which opens the Article Studio and starts writing live.
- New Topic — add your own with a title and optional editorial intent. Not every topic needs to come from data; some come from knowing your customers.
Your weekly topic picks also land at the top of this tab.
Long-tail Pool
The pool holds individual keywords that aren't topics yet: raw material. A searchable table with status and assignment filters (unassigned, or already attached to a topic), plus three ways to grow it:
- Add — type keywords in, one per line for bulk.
- Sync GSC — pull in the queries your site already ranks for from Google Search Console. These are the highest-signal keywords you can get: Google telling you what it already associates with you.
- Discover — let the system expand the pool from what it knows about your brand.
Research
The hands-on tool. Type a seed keyword ("AI task manager"), pick a mode and a market, and get a table of real search terms:
- Modes: Phrase match finds variations containing your seed; Questions finds the question-form searches around it, which map naturally to articles.
- Markets: US, UK, CA, AU, JP, DE, FR, ES.
- Columns: monthly volume, difficulty (Easy to Hard), and intent — informational, commercial, transactional, navigational, or mixed. Intent matters more than volume: a transactional keyword with 200 searches usually beats an informational one with 5,000.
Select the rows you want and Add selected to move them into the pool.
AI Brainstorm
Stuck at the seed stage? Tell AI about your product opens the brainstorm dialog. Grounded in your brand profile, it proposes seed keywords in four buckets, each with a rationale:
- Pain points — what people search when they have the problem you solve.
- Alternatives — "X alternative" searches from users outgrowing a competitor.
- Niche — the specific corners where a small product wins.
- Adjacent — nearby searches your audience makes on the way to needing you.
Use a suggestion directly, regenerate, or add a batch to the long-tail pool.
Note: keyword metric lookups (volume, difficulty, CPC) draw on your plan's weekly keyword allowance. Brainstorming and managing the library are free.
A sane workflow
- Sync GSC and run one brainstorm to seed the pool.
- Research the promising seeds; keep intent-heavy, difficulty-light keywords.
- Promote clusters of related keywords into topics with a clear editorial intent.
- Let weekly picks take it from there, and prune the library monthly.
Fifty well-chosen keywords beat a thousand hoarded ones. The pool is a garden, not a warehouse.
